‘I will not contest,’ says Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan on Thursday said that he would not contest from any seat in the state in the general elections. “I am mere activist in my brother’s party. I am here to obey instructions of Chiranjeevi,” he said. He also said he is taking care of megastar’s security.

“I am more interested on the cultural activities of the party. No one is trying to build and strengthen the youth. We will focus on that. The problem with current political system is that a mere one lakh leaders are deciding the fate of 8 crores of public in the state. We need to nurture more leaders,” he opined.

Chiranjeevi's Inescapable New Tensions

Megastar Chiranjeevi who has opened his party office and soon will be jumping into the dirty world of politics has been taking all sorts of spiritual and divine precautionary measures when it comes to his debut but then there are still strong predictions from many astrologers that things are not bright for him until the year 2014.

While Chiru might manage to appeal to the crowd, win votes and perhaps the chair of Chief Minister too but then it is being said that he will not be having a peaceful life from the time he would step into politics. This is what the planetary position has to say about the Megastar.

This has been giving some sort of tensions to the camp of the Megastar and also his household but then Chiru has now entered inside the Padmavyuham and it is next to impossible that he can actually think of coming out of it. So it only goes upon his hard work, vision and strategy now to ensure that his move was not a wrong one after all. Hence he is suffering from inescapable tensions.

Chiru Fans Fight Over Mega Venue

After the announcement comes the jostling. Less than 24 hours after megastar Chiranjeevi made clear his political intentions, a fight has broken out between his fan groups over the proposed site of the public meeting the star-turned-politician is scheduled to address here sometime next week.

Permission has been sought from the district authorities to hold the meeting—most likely on August 26— at Avilala Tank near the Padmavati temple in Tiruchanur. Spread over 183 acres, the government land can accommodate about 5-6 lakh people but the district authorities told Chiranjeevi that a lot of bushes on the ground need to be cleared.

Thus even as clearing of the bushes is under way, the authorities advised the megastar to scout for an alternative site.

The second site offered is Nandikunta, a 40-acre government land also located in Tiruchanur. This can accommodate about 3-4 lakh people, district authorities said.

Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law Allu Arvind inspected the sites on Tuesday and according to sources, is inclined to settle for Avilala Tank as the venue.

However, a final decision would be taken after the megastar's brother Nagababu inspects the two sites on Wednesday, the sources added.

In the meantime, two local Chiru fans' association leaders are fighting over the venue. While Ashok Samrat Yadav belonging to the Chiranjeevi Seva Dal wants the Avilala Tank to be the venue of the meeting, C R Rajan of the Chiranjeevi Yuva Sena wants the meeting to he held at Nandikunta.

According to sources, both these leaders are not that well known even in Tirupati and that they are pitching for the two venues in order to get into the good books of Chiranjeevi.

Some predict that attempts by various fans and political leaders jostling for Chiranjeevi's attention will only increase in the coming days.

"We are well aware of that. That is why over 2,500 volunteers have been trained to protect Chiranjeevi when he comes here for the public meeting. Also, we will ensure that the public is seated at least 100 feet away from the dais from where the megastar will speak," a Chiru loyalist said.

Chiru Feels The First Pinch Of Media

Despite his behind the screen the preparations on how to face the media, megastar Chiranjeevi could not hide his nervousness in facing the media, on the occasion of the inauguration of his party office after the midnight of Sunday.

Chiru tried to put up a brave face while facing questions from the media, most of which were, in fact, silly and meaningless. "Why did you inaugurate the party office after midnight? Why was it so secret affair?" was the first question. Chiru was prepared to answer this question, but was nervous while answering: "You see, many gruha praveshams are generally conducted during late in the nights. This is a formal muhurtham and hence, it had to be done now. There is no secrecy in it. Everything is open," he said.

Then, came a silly question. "You have inaugurated the party office. Does it mean that you are actually confirming your entry into politics?" Chiru was in an embarrassing situation, as he had to announce that he is launching the party. "Do you still have the doubts, after seeing the developments all these days?" was his retort.

Obviously, he was feeling a bit angry. Then came the obvious question: "When will you make the announcement?" Chiranjeevi quietly said: "In a couple of days." A reporter then insisted on the exact date: "What does it mean by a couple of days? On August 13?" Chiru got angry. "A couple of days mean two days. It might take two or three days." Then, the final shot. "When will be your public meeting and where?" This question was obvious and Chiru quietly said: "You will come to know everything by month end. In fact, every thing will be completed by this month-end."

Initially, Chiranjeevi did not want to talk to the media and in fact, did not even invite media to the party office inauguration. But the electronic media came on their own and Chiru could not say get last. They forced him into conversation by asking him to give an appeal to his fans to participate in the flood relief operations. Slowly, media made him talk about politics. So clever the media was!

'Chiru should not enter politics' - Suman

Actor Chiranjeevi should not enter politics under the present political atmosphere, said actor Suman. Speaking to reporters after launching blood donation camp organised by a voluntary organisation at Venkatachalam mandal parishad office, Mr Suman said Chiranjeevi has attained stardom among film industry and among the hearts of his fans. "In politics, people will be criticised even for small mistakes. This may create unnecessary anxious moments among the cinema industry people like me and his fans," Mr Suman said. He said that Chiranjeevi should prefer new faces and his fans while allotting party tickets in elections and tickets to migrant politicians may cause immense damage to the actor.

"Differences and clashes may arise if tickets are not allotted to important fan leaders and to avoid all these it is better for Chiranjeevi not to enter politics," Mr Suman concluded. He said that he has called upon his fans to take up voluntary service instead of focusing on politics. "I am disgusted of politics due to lowering of no dignity in politics," Mr Suman said.

Ready For A More Challenging Role?

It is learnt that Chiranjeevi will be hosting a get together for the bigwigs in Tollywood to inform them about his plan to take a break from films besides seeking their support for his political party.

Undoubtedly, it would have been a tough call for the star and invariably his mind would have wavered a lot before taking the decision to cut short his second innings. He recently appeared in a song with his actor-son Ram Charan, so technically it could be his last appearance on screen until he makes a comeback for another stint. But A B Reddy, assistant manager of a media house says ,"Chiranjeevi can happily continue acting since politics may not be his cup of tea. It seems that there is lot of confusion in his camp over agenda and on few other issues as well. Uncertainty about launch dates compounds it. He wants to root out corruption and bring in social justice but both are uphill tasks".

An analysis of his three decade-old-career which began with Pranam Kareedhu in 1978, gives us an insight into the phenomenal transformation of a small-time actor into a star. After doing varied roles, he became a bankable star with Kaidi. A slew of blockbusters like Adavi Donga, Kondaveeti Raja, Pasivadi Pranam, and Kaidi No.786 to mention a few, ensured him the numero uno slot.

After a brief lull, he began his second innings with the smashing hit Hitler and sustained his enviable position with roaring hits like Indra, Tagore and Shankar Dada MBBS. Despite delivering duds like Anji, Andharivadu, Jai Chiranjeeva and Sankardada Zindabad in 2007, Chiranjeevi still managed to be the darling of the masses. Even after the advent of new age stars like Mahesh and NTR Jr, he remained the uncrowned king of Telugu cinema. He also received a good number of state and Filmfare awards but Padma Bushan was undoubtedly a jewel in his crown.

"His political entry seems to be a right move as he is ageing. But his larger-than-life image in films is bound to influence voters of all ages. His Mr Clean image will also attract voters from other parties but he needs to have a unique agenda to stay ahead of his rivals," says Kranti, a bank official.

Recently when director Rajamouli finished canning the song, a remix of Bangaru Kodi Petta.., the leading star would have walked out of the sets with mixed feelings – on one hand he would have been satisfied with his son turning out to be a star material, on the other hand that it might be his last filmi appearance, provided he returns for another stint since actors have no retirement per se.

All said and done, his new avatar is equally challenging since it could alter the fate of crores of people in the state. However, Sripada Sham of an advertising agency feels that the star has unnecessarily kept aloof in the recent past, "As an actor he looked like a people's man but for the last one year he has consciously distanced himself from the people. He tested the patience of people immensely by dragging the decision of his entry far too long. His political inexperience forced him to move behind the scene and allowed others to do the talking. Unfortunately he hasn't retorted to allegations against his blood and eye banks but if we can surpass the deeds of NTR we will be happy."

Astrologers Says Chiru Will Not Become CM Ever

Astrologers have predicted that actor Chiranjeevi will never be the Chief Minister. They said that the actor who was born on August 22 at 10.05 am, is currently going through Kalayogam, a time when Shani casts his evil spell. They said that the evil times which began for the actor on July 17, 2007 will continue till November 2, 2014.

They further said Chiranjeevi was born during Kalasarpa time. People born during this time should not change their profession if they want to be successful. They warned that he will face the worst phase in his life from December 9, 2008 to March 4, 2009 as Mars, Jupiter and Rahu fall in makara rasi. That is not compatible to his horoscope. "He is not going to succeed in politics and can never become the Chief Minister as his horoscope is headed towards evil times. He is under Kalayogam," said Mr Srinivasa Gargeya, a senior astrologer.

Chiranjeevi’s horoscope does not show any sign of him making it to the top or even becoming a king maker, said Mr Ghorasa Veerabhadracharyulu, head of the department of astrology in Telugu University. "He may win a few seats but will not become the Chief Minister," Veerabhadracharyulu said. Astrologers said that the actor’s plans to perform Chandi yagam to nullify the effect of Shani will not help. "His horoscope is in such a critical time that no yagam can nullify the Shani effect. The effect will continue for another six years. Vested interests are misleading him," said Krishna Santosh Sastri, another astrologer. Astrologers also foresee the first ever hung Assembly in the state after the next elections.
